A Minute’s Peace

The world is mad.

You need a break.

Give yourself a minute’s peace.

Sanctuary (Chris Jones)

A Minute’s Peace is exactly what it says on the tin: a moment of respite from the noise.

The idea is simple: short, original piano compositions designed to be relaxing, calming and soothing; a minute to stop scrolling, switch off and just listen. In a busy world where we’re bombarded with a constant stream of information, it’s my attempt to create something small, quiet and human.

A Minute’s Peace came out of a creatively fallow period, where I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired to write new pieces of electronic or pop music. I wondered if I should go back to basics and try writing original pieces on piano. I decided I would commit to composing and uploading pieces regularly, which led to the idea of keeping them short and simple. I realised this would also be a perfect fit for social media.

And so A Minute’s Peace was born: one minute of peace, one piece a day.

Of course, I don’t actually upload a piece every day, and the pieces are frequently more than a minute long, but hey, no one’s perfect.
